Joseph Campbell in “A
Joseph Campbell Companion: Reflections on the Art of Living”: “The field of
time is the field of sorrow. All life is sorrowful. And it is. If you try to correct the sorrows,
all you do is shift them somewhere else. Life is sorrowful. How do you live
with that? You realize the eternal within yourself. You disengage, and yet,
reengage. You—and here’s the beautiful formula—participate with joy in the
sorrows of the world. You play the game. It hurts, but you know that you have
found the place that is transcendent
[emphasis added] of injury and fulfillments. You are there, and that’s it.”
Going to the dictionary can further one’s understanding
of various terms, and I’ve gone to www.merriamwebster.com for
these. The definition of transcendent: going beyond the limits of ordinary experience;
far better or greater than what is usual.
Some definitions of transcendental: of or relating to experience as
determined by the mind's makeup; transcending experience but not human knowledge. Definitions of transcend are: to rise above or
go beyond the limits of; to triumph over the negative or restrictive aspects of—overcome;
to be prior to, beyond, and above (the universe or material existence); to outstrip or outdo in some attribute,
quality, or power; to rise above or
extend notably beyond ordinary limits The word transcending does not have its own
definition.
I
use the word transcending in various decrees/affirmations. Here is the current
basic format I use for my decrees/affirmations.
“I Am [insert your name]. I Am That I Am. I Am
The Divine I Am. I Am the I Am That I Am. I Am a fully sentient, sovereign, free-willed
entity. I declare my sovereign free will now. I Am the Divine in control. I Am
the only authority in my life. I Am Divinely protected by the light of my being
and the light of Christ—Christ in me the hope of glory. I Am [insert your name]. I Am That I Am. In
the name of the Christ, with the Power of Christ Divine within me, with the
power of my Divine I Am, with my Applied Conscious Intent, and with the power
of my Divine I Am, I [insert your name] decree I Am ________--throughout
space-time-- throughout time-space—on a full and permanent basis—now.
Some of the things I put in that blank are:
transcending duality; transcending any and all violations and abuse of me and
mine and attacks on me and mine; transcending any and all manipulations of me
and mine and sabotage of me and mine; transcending all oppression of me and
mine. The reader can perhaps think of
other words to put in the blank.
I often combine
transcending with ascending, adding an “and,” but sometimes I decree/affirm
ascending separately. The word ascend is
defined in Merriam Webster: to move upward; to slope upward; to rise from a lower level or degree; to go or move up; to succeed to. The word ascending is defined as: rising or increasing to higher
levels, values, or degrees; mounting or sloping upward; rising upward usually
from a more or less prostrate base or point of attachment.
When I use the word ascending in
decrees/affirmations, I often use these words to fill in the blank: ascending into higher consciousness and ascending into
higher love; ascending all of me and mine and all that are engaged with
me and mine into the highest light of heaven; ascending all of me and mine and
all that are engaged with me and mine into Christ Consciousness. Again, readers
may think of other words to fill in the blank.
