What is the measure of "evil"? We would postulate that one's degree of "evilness" (or lack thereof)is measured by one's heart. (Yes, the heart does have "a mind of its own"--as goes a song from about the mid-twentieth century.)
What are the majority of one's thoughts? Are they about "me, myself, and I" versus them? What is one's manner of interaction with others? Rude, crude, mean? Or respectful and kind? Is one reacting to perceived insults and mistreatments with anger and thoughts of revenge? Or is one giving others the benefit of a doubt and turning the other cheek, so to speak? Is one's conscious intention to harm people and animals? Or is one attempting to live a no-harm life? Does one "rise above" negative situations? Or does one jump in and sink lower?
Evil is not all about "them." It's about one's thoughts and feelings--about one's manner of being, one's manner of living. The question is: "What is the heart's intent?"
