When reading this afternoon, I reached a point where I couldn’t keep my eyes open, so I closed my eyes with the intent to meditate. Relaxed for about an hour in deep alpha (signified by purple and violet on the mind screen). At one point, I asked to be shown what I most needed to know and saw a colorful butterfly on my mind screen. Butterfly. Transformation.  Then I asked for confirmation of the butterfly message. Another butterfly, mostly transparent, appeared—possibly transparent because I was coming out of deep alpha.  I decided to research the symbolism of the butterfly on the Internet for other meanings rather than direct questioning of my Higher Self and/or accessing the Superconscious.  Here are some results of my search:

www.gardenswithwings.com:  Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life.

www.pure-spirit.com:  To Native Americans, the butterfly is a symbol of change, joy and color. The exquisite butterfly was considered a miracle of transformation and resurrection. In the Old World, the connotation was negative; the butterfly was thought to be the spirit of the dead.

www.spiritanimal.info:  What is the meaning of the butterfly? This animal totem is primarily associated with symbolism of change and transformation:  powerful transformation, metamorphosis in your life, personality; moving through different life cycles; renewal, rebirth; lightness of being, playfulness; elevation from earthly matters, tuning into emotional or spiritual; the world of the soul, the psyche. A secondary meaning of the butterfly is about finding joy in life and lightness of being.

www.universeofsymbolism:  Butterfly is the embodiment of spiritual growth and transcendence, perhaps more than any form on earth, because of transformation from caterpillar to butterfly.

www.ask-angels.com:  As power animals, butterflies are magical and cherished. They represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, creativity, endless potential, vibrant joy, change, ascension, and an ability to experience the wonder of life.

www.owncation.com:  Although they symbolize different things to different cultures, universally butterflies represent change and transformation. Why? Because the butterfly is an insect that begins its life in one form and ends it in another. A butterfly starts as a crawling creature, then it hibernates in a cocoon, only to rejoin the world as a flying insect. Symbolically, butterflies are creatures with the ability to transcend the ordinary and take flight into the heavens. In many spiritual circles, the butterfly represents the spirit or soul.

www.shamanicjourney.com: Butterfly is the symbol of change, the soul, creativity, freedom, joy and colour. Their power is transformation, shape shifting and soul evolution. They represent the element of air, quickly changing and always on the move gracefully. Butterfly is a potent symbol for those considering, or in the throes of, a big change.

I like to think that most people are generous givers and appreciative receivers.  However, many of us can be generous givers but have difficulty receiving gifts from others—even if we really want the gift or are in need.  I confess that majorly describes my own self in the past. I’ve spent many years increasing my self-esteem and learning to receive but, truth be told, there’s still a tiny bit of that reluctance to receive remaining—especially when the giver has financial challenges. I often remind myself of the truth: “When one most needs to receive is one most needs to give.”   Just this week, I told a supporter friend about what happened once when I was recently divorced and in need in the late 1980s.  Had some tears as I got in my car outside my apartment building and prayed aloud, “Please give me someone to help” (because I knew giving materially would make me feel better about being in need my own self).  Instantly, there came a knock on my car window, and four excited little brothers who were staying temporarily in a nearby apartment were standing there. When I put the window down, they began telling me, “Mam, mam, we’re going to school!” And one of them asked, “Do you have any pencils?”  How wonderful!  I responded in the affirmative and got of the car. They followed me to my apartment and I gave them pencils, little scissors, rulers, etc.  You see, I keep supplies and gifts that I buy on sale around (and extra food and supplies).  Don’t have an automobile to buy new items that can often be found at yard/garage sales as I once did, but I can still pick up some school supplies at the neighborhood Walmart.  Not much need for those now that I’m living in an apartment community for senior citizens. So it is usually extra food and household supplies that I keep to give—as I am able, of course.  I tend to be overly generous. Giving to individuals can provide a lot of satisfaction.  However, it feels extra wonderful to buy non-perishable food items on sale in the months preceding the annual United States Postal Service food drive every May and then put the bags out on pickup day. That’s just me.  Someone else may feel differently.

And then there are some people who are primarily takers.  One good example of this is an acquaintance of about 25 years ago.  There’s nothing wrong with gathering and saving discount coupons for restaurant meals, which he did, among other things. (Trying to get a store or restaurant to accept expired coupons habitually, as someone else I knew a few years later would do, means one is a taker.) However, one day I saw the acquaintance at the salad bar in a health food store filling a to-go container.  At that time all those years ago, the store charged a set amount for the large containers of salad and a lesser amount for the small containers.  Anyway, the acquaintance told me that he could fill the container with tomatoes and other fixings--everything but salad greens—and buy the less expensive lettuce separately to make his own salad at home. He was so proud of himself. Eventually, the store became wise to what this man and probably others were doing and began weighing the contents and charging by the ounce.  Takers.

It occurred to me recently that there is a category more extreme than that of takers.  Some people are grabbers. Nothing wrong with standing in line for hours to get into stores when the doors open with terrific sales (such as what happens here in the USA on our Thanksgiving holiday weekend).  However, running to displays and wrestling with others to get the items on sale means the person is probably of grabber consciousness. 

Recently, someone in another state whom we assisted a little with spiritual and metaphysical information and clearing a couple of years ago accused me (via message on Internet) of not liking him/her because I had informed him/her a few times since then that we wouldn’t be available for him/her again—politely but clearly.  This time, I responded, “Mouth hanging open. Just because my guidance is not to assist further doesn't mean I don't like you.  We assist some and don't assist others and assist some others minimally.  Liking and not liking is elementary stuff.  Again, may all be well with you. May there be plenty for you.”  Once again, he/she nagged and asked why we won’t assist him/her further, adding: “So, are you as rude to everyone else as you are to me?”  People, someone who won’t take no for an answer over and over again is a grabber.  And the time of that person would be well spent in establishing and maintaining a clear and strong High Self/Soul connection and presence.

A Facebook friend recently shared a link to a June 2, 2014 article by Emily Stroia titled “Cutting Negative Psychic Cords & Toxic Relationships”:

Emily:  You need to be in a quiet space and may want to create a calm atmosphere by lighting a candle, playing soft music and use healing oils such as lavender.  Set the intention of this ritual by saying a prayer to ask for help in the process. Whatever your belief system is you can ask God, the Angels or Divine Source to be present during this process of cord-cutting.  Now take a few long deep breaths and visualize a white light of protection around you, connecting you to the Universe, Spirit and Divine Energy. Once you are in a meditative state, visualize the person who you have a negative cord attachment standing in front of you. As you see this person imagine you are holding a sword and start moving your arms around your body. Visualize this sword cutting all the negative cords with that person. You  may want to say “I now cut and release all cords of this relationship (say the name of the person)". Cut above/below to roots/pull up roots/visualize all cords being cut from every chakra or part of your body. Try to focus on just one or a couple relationships in one cord cutting session. If you were raped, abused or attacked, you may need to focus on that one first and do other relationships later in another session. Once you have fully cut all cords peacefully say "Goodbye, I release and let you go." You can send them well wishes and or visualize them disappearing or fading away.  Always remember to say their name and explanation of relationship.  When you’re done, pause and take a breath. Surround yourself with love and light and notice how you are feeling. Ask for the highest love and light to fill you completely, allow your heart to open and feel a connection to yourself and to the Divine. Feel free to say a closing prayer and end the session on a positive note.  You may need to do this exercise a few times to really cut all the cords. It can be a challenging process to let someone go so patient and commit to it. It will be a very freeing and enlightening process not only for you but for that person as well. You are setting that prisoner free.

Angel-Light:  Before addressing the issue of cords, it can be helpful to release and clear what you are carrying that is not yours.   Speak your intent aloud, such as: “I Am [your name].  With my applied conscious intent and with the power of my spoken word, I [your name] decree I AM releasing what is not mine to carry or to heal and banishing it from my totality into the healing and transforming light of the central sun—now.”  Then immediately proceed to addressing “negative cords and connections,” with these words of intent spoken aloud: “I Am [your name].  With my applied conscious intent and with the power of my spoken word, I [your name] decree I AM severing and disengaging all negative cords and connections between my person and other persons and transmuting all these negative cords and connections into neutral clear light—on a full and permanent basis--now.”  Whatever is released, cleared, removed, etc. is always replaced with something else so as not to create a void to be filled (unless the intent is specifically to do so, of course). I prefer Healing Love-Light Energy and/or Christ Consciousness Golden Light.  The reader may prefer something else.  Just remember that the Gold Ray (gold light) is of higher vibration than the White Ray (white light).
