Surprised at the title of this blog? Did you even realize that there are times when closing certain chakras temporarily can be very helpful? We're specifically referring to the root/base chakra, the sacral center, and the solar plexus chakra--the three lowest of the kundalini chakras. We don't recommend closing any of the others--even temporarily--especially the heart chakra/center.
An example of the benefits is one of my own experiences. Back in the 1990s, I was miserable with a head cold, but allowed myself to be coerced into attending a rock concert in a semi-open facility (at no expense to myself). I became more and more miserable, and couldn't even hear the music because of the noise of the crowd, so I walked out from under the shelter to get out of the energy for a while (and noticed the music was much more clear at that location). It occurred to me (Divine thought download perhaps) to close the lower chakras, which I did. Very soon I was feeling much better and returned to my seat and began "rocking and rolling" with everyone else. I opened the chakras that night, and suffered no ill effects. In fact, my overall wellbeing had improved.
Here's how you open and close your chakras. Focus on the chakra you wish to close (and the solar plexus is the one you will most want to close for volatile or stressful environments and situations). Imagine a beautiful rose in full bloom (red for the root chakra, orange for the sacral center, and yellow for the solar plexus). Then imagine the rose closing and becoming a rosebud. Practice this procedure for all three lower chakras--individually--in non-stressful times so you'll know how to use it when needed. It is important to state your intent, such as I [YOUR NAME] DECREE I AM CLOSING MY ROOT CHAKRA [OR SACRAL CENTER OR SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA] NOW. When it is time to open them, substitute the word "OPENING" for the word "CLOSING." Practice, practice, practice.
