Imprints of traumatic past experiences can be found in one's energy bodies. An example is the swords that a healer friend found in my energy about fourteen years ago--several of them. I actually saw one of them as he removed it. These were probably what they appeared to be--imprints of swords that entered my bodies in past lives. However, they could also be evidence of psychic attacks or black magic directed at me personally. Black magic practitioners can energetically place such things a vial of poison in the energy bodies of those they are attempting to harm from a distance. "A knife in the back" can be a symbol of vicious gossip. Other imprints can be symbols of many things. There can also be found imprints of a positive nature in one's energy bodies. There are several good books about symbols and their meanings available. Over the years, when facilitating healing in private sessions, I've seen a wide variety of imprints in the major energy centers/chakras and the auric eggs of individuals. A healer is not to make a decision that certain imprints shouldn't be there and remove them, but to question the individual's guardian as to the appropriateness of removal at the time. Also, when seeking the causes of a problem through a healing session, we ask that only those causes that are appropriate and safe to remove at the time be revealed, and these are often revealed as symbols. We ask if remembering what the symbol signifies would be beneficial and seek that knowledge if the response is in the affirmative. If it would not be beneficial, we do not waste our time and remove the symbol.
Personally, this human experienced abuse of a male relative as a child--not extremely major, but harmful enough that he was hated for years. As a result of increased spiritual awareness, he was forgiven before his death over thirty years ago, and love and appreciation for him developed after his death. Years later, after thinking all evidence of the abuse had been cleared, I found out otherwise. One evening I watched a movie in which a guy took camera film into a dark room to develop, but someone opened the door and turned on the bright lights, which destroyed the images/imprints on the film. Later that night, in meditation, I was shown a partially unrolled film in an area of my body and given that there was an imprint of the childhood trauma. So I directed light with the intent to remove the imprint, and the film disappeared. This was part of my awakening/training as a healer, of course (which came from other levels of existence and my experience throughout many lives as a healer).
I recognize that clearing/healing one's self is easier for some of us than others of us. There are several reasons for that, which I won't describe here. Asking for the assistance of healers is nothing to be ashamed about--especially if the healer is open to sharing information and teaching the seeker to heal self.
