HOMELESS OR HOME FREE?

I shared an
article on Facebook titled, “I secretly lived in my office for 500 days,” by
Terry K., who is out of the corporate world and a free-lance writer, living out
of his truck and camper, following his Spirit, these days. His story lifted me up and gave me joy. Here’s an excerpt: Instead of "homeless," I prefer to
use the term "home-free." It champions choice without undermining the
challenges faced by those without it.
My intro to
update: Love this! My spirits are
soaring. So miss being a "traveling angel." The biggest challenge was
finding places to park my automobile without being challenged by law officers
and business owners. During those years, I did a lot of pet sitting and house
sitting, and also spent some time in the homes of friends and people I was
assisting. But my happiest times were being on the road and out and about. As
the author of this article reports, having a home (an apartment in Terry K.’s
case and mine) carries a lot of responsibility.

Facebook friend commented: Great article
and I like “home free,” too. I was trying to explain that to someone once, who
thought I was being heartless, that we shouldn't assume that all
"homeless" people want a home. There are many who love their freedom
from too many restrictions. It would probably suffocate them to be home bound.
My
response: I'm not suffocating, but I've just been surviving and not thriving. I
am very grateful for the blessings of my home base on the outskirts of a Dallas
suburb. It’s just that I don’t want to be here 99% of the time. Now if I only I can
be blessed with an automobile so my almost 70-year-young person can get out and
about and go places to interact with
people on spiritual and cosmic and metaphysical paths personally rather than
just via phone and Internet and get “on the road again” often. I am grateful to still be facilitating the
healing and wellbeing of people who are guided to my spiritual and metaphysical
ministry.
