Someone posted on Facebook: Ok, now I'm tired
after waking up at 2am. What are the odds of getting back to sleep?!?
My comment/response, plus additional words: Don't resist it. Make good use of that "awake" time, stay in bed with eyes closed. Deep breathe slowly, pulling in your abdomen on the exhale, and filling and extending your abdomen on the inhale--as if you're inflating and deflating a big balloon. If you're unable to do that, practice during the day when you're awake until you've learned it and it becomes natural to you, and eventually you can breathe with the whole trunk of your body.
Next step when you awaken and cannot go back to sleep during the night is to either put yourself back to sleep or begin programming your consciousness. In sync with the inhaling and exhaling of your breathing, silently repeat words and syllables of words. In the following paragraph, each full breath is divided by semicolons. The hyphens divide the syllables and words. The first words/syllables before the hyphen are to be repeated silently on the inhale, and the words after the hyphen on the exhale.
To put yourself back to sleep, breathe in sync with these words several times: at - ease ; re - lax ; sleep - y ; deep - sleep. Then, for several repetitions, go with: sleep - y ; deep - sleep. If you fail at putting yourself back to slee0p, then spend a few minutes with: I - Am ; I - Be ; I - Love (over and over again). Next, start the programming with these: happy - healthy; at - ease ; vibrating - higher ; shining - brighter ; strong - body ; healthy - body ; peace - calm. You can probably think of others.
With practice, this will become easier for you.
