It was brought to my attention recently that the separation of a person's nonphysical body from the physical body can leave space to be filled by entities and energies who dwell at various levels of the astral realm if sufficient protection is lacking (and fill in the space they will). People who are experienced at intentional astral travel (where the bodies separate and are held together by a cord) know the importance of having adequate protection in place. There are people who have spontaneous out-of-body experience (OBEs), such as during surgery, who find themselves as nonphysical looking at their physical bodies to which they are attached by cords. This is what happens during the transition process until finally the cord is severed from the physical body.
Unfortunately, people's nonphysical bodies can become separated from their physical bodies without their knowledge--from a little to a lot. (There are degrees of separation.) The longer this condition (which is not the same as being ungrounded) exists, the more an individual can be subject to intrusions and violations. Of course, if one is in the process of ending a life, one's nonphysical body will be less merged with the physical body than is healthy.
I'm given that the nonphysical and physical bodies are to be 85% merged at a minimum so that space isn't available for intruders and trespassers. We (the Angel-Light team) have merged the bodies of people who are regulars and people who have been in process this year as we were allowed. Already there has been positive feedback.
