APPLIED CONSCIOUS INTENT

I came out of deep meditation the other day
with the words “applied conscious intent” in mind. After a few minutes of pondering, it occurred
to me that a spiritual teacher friend of 20 to 25 years ago (who transitioned
in the early 1990s) might have used it. When I first did an internet search for
the term, I came up with nothing specific on the first couple pages. However, a
few days later, I searched for the term with the name of the friend, Marcia
Patterson, and confirmed she had given workshops named “The Power of Applied
Conscious Intent.”
I suspect the term “applied conscious intent”
came to mind that day because I had recently read some paragraphs and articles
about intent. Further information on
Marcia Patterson’s recommendations for using the term aren’t clear in my mind.
However, I suspect it was along the lines of the following and, if not, this is
a good way to use the term:
“I Am [name]. I Am That I Am. With the Power
of my Applied Conscious Intent, I [name] Decree I Am
________________________--Now.”
Normally, I affirm/decree as follows: “I Am
[name]. I Am That I Am. In the name of Christ, with the power of Christ Divine
within me, and with the power, with the light, and with the love of my Inner
Divine Spirit, I [name] Decree I Am ____________--Now.” It is a closer match
with the Applied Conscious Intent affirmation/decree in this form: “I Am
[name]. I Am That I Am. With the power, with the light, and with the love of my
Inner Divine Spirit, I [name] Decree I Am _____________--Now.”
Important Note: You put an action verb in the blank followed
with as few words as possible, such as “ascending into higher consciousness,
ascending into higher love,” or “attracting many wonderful opportunities to be
of service, or “coming from love at all times with all people in all situations,”
or “looking forward to the replacement of my computer with a newer model,” or “eagerly
anticipating my new automobile.” You get
the idea!
Personally, I prefer my Inner Divine Spirit
format rather than the Applied Conscious Intent format. However, I recognize there are circumstances
when the Applied Conscious Intent format might be called for and possibly more
effective—such as with regard to manifesting material goods or funds (such as
an automobile) and material circumstances (such as a new job). I’ll probably be
using both formats depending on whether my thoughts are on the spiritual or on
the material.
Many have heard the term “the power of the
spoken word” It originated with Florence Scovel Shinn, and she published a book
titled “The Power of the Spoken Word” in 1945. Previous books were “The Game of
Life” (1925), “Your Word is Your Wand” (1928), “The Secret Door to Success”
(1940). I have a 355-page book in my collection titled, “The Writings of
Florence Scovel Shinn,” which includes all four books. They are considered classic by many and still
available in the marketplace. They are all mostly short and very short
paragraphs, and I recommend them all.
Words have power, people! Use them wisely!
