Christ
Consciousness and Cosmic Consciousness are terms often used interchangeably. After a couple of quotes, this short article will share various
descriptions of the terms.
Paramahansa
Yogananda (born Mukunda Lal Ghosh; 5
January 1893 – 7 March 1952), my favorite Indian teacher: "When the beads of
nations are not held together by the thread of universal perception of Christ
Consciousness, of Christ Peace, they fall apart, knocking and scattering on the
rocks of selfishness."
Sri
Aurobindo (born Aurobindo Ghose; 15 August 1872 – 5 December 1950), an Indian
philosopher: “Men are being constantly invaded by the occult hostile forces and
there are great numbers of men who are partly or entirely under their
influence. Some are possessed by them; others are incarnations of hostile
beings. At the present moment they are very active all over the earth. These
are the forces and beings that are interested in maintaining the falsehoods
they have created in the world of the Ignorance and in putting them forward as
the Truth which men must follow. When
one is habituated to see the things behind, one is no longer prone to be
touched by the outward aspects – or to expect any remedy from political,
institutional or social changes; the only way out is through the descent of a
consciousness which is not the puppet of these forces but is greater than they
are.”
My
perception, based on other words of Sri Aurobindo, is that the consciousness he
is referring to here is Christ Consciousness. As a spiritual and metaphysical healing/wellbeing
facilitator of 30 years, I am quite familiar with these occult hostile forces
of various types. However, the subject of this piece is Cosmic Christ
Consciousness (my preferred term) aka Christ Consciousness aka Cosmic Consciousness.
In his
book, “Cosmic Consciousness: A Study in the Evolution of the Human Mind” (1901),
Canadian Psychiatrist Richard Bucke explores the concept of cosmic
consciousness, which he defines as "a higher form of consciousness than
that possessed by the ordinary man.” This
may be the first delineation of Cosmic Consciousness in modern times. Steve Taylor, Ph.D. reports in a 2017 “Psychology Today” article: The main characteristics of cosmic
consciousness as identified by Bucke are joyfulness; a revelation of the
meaning, purpose, and aliveness of the universe; a sense of immortality; a loss
of fear of death; and an absence of the concept of sin. Bucke also highlights
the importance of light. Cosmic consciousness may feature an experience of
being “immersed in a flame or rose-colored cloud, or perhaps rather a sense
that the mind is itself filled with such a cloud or haze.”
Cosmic
Consciousness is a term often used to denote a higher or particularly spiritual
level of awareness and consciousness. It is said that in a state of Cosmic
Consciousness, the human mind is elevated beyond the awareness of the self and
the ego, and enters a place of oneness and unity with the universe. [Source: www.yogapedia.com]
There’s
a very good article by Ulla Sarmiento titled “What Is Cosmic Consciousness vs.

I’ll summarize part of it here. Guy Needler defined the two terms as follows:
Self-realization means one is aware that the human body is not all we are. This
leads to Christ consciousness, which is when one is accessing and experiencing
the information that is one’s True Energetic Self (TES/Oversoul) within
manifest creation. God-realization means
one is in communion with one’s creator. This leads to Cosmic consciousness,
which is when one is accessing and experiencing the information that is beyond
the TES, which is the Source/God and even the Origin/The All beyond creation.
[I resonate with these descriptions of the two terms.]
Some sources
I read parts of and scanned include information implying that there are degrees
of Christ Consciousness and Cosmic Consciousness. Long-time readers of the ♥Angel-Light
Beamer♥ and people
who consult with the Angel-Light Team/Collective will remember that we’ve been
emphasizing degrees of this, that, and the other “forever.” It isn’t “yes” or “no” but “how much” (such
as how contaminated is one’s auric egg/field; how much the light body is
aligned with the physical body; the integrity of one’s circuits, channels, conduits,
and meridians; etc.). Years ago, there was someone who would call us for
assistance and information who was an either-or person. He would ask, “Is [name] dark?” Well, of course the person was dark for
heaven’s sake. Few of us are 100% light at this level of existence. I’m given
that, at this time, about two percent of us embodied on this plane of existence
are 100% light—which is an indication of the quality of the soul. It’s not as
simple as that, of course, but simplicity makes things easier to understand.
An
admonition often used by spiritual teachers is “test the spirits.” My personal preference, as a spiritual teacher
(and everything else under the umbrella term of “Spiritual & Metaphysical
Healing/Wellbeing Facilitator”) is to ask all spirits who show up in my space: “Are
you aligned with Christ Consciousness?” I often chant, “I welcome the Christ
and the Christed Ones.” I confess that
to me, Christ Consciousness includes loving-kindness, compassion, service-to-others,
and no-harm living. You might prefer to ask, “Are you compatible with Christ
Consciousness?” Or, “Are you of service-to-others
intent?” If you have yet to pick your
boundary/guideline for interaction with light beings and spirits, reader, we very
much recommend you do so. After all, there are those spirits who masquerade as
what they are not.
