First we’ll include some definitions of the word “chakra.”
http://www.chopra.com/articles/what-is-a-chakra: The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates
to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels
of energy throughout the body.

Let's start with a brief definition. What is a chakra? A chakra is a center of energy. Originating from
Sanskrit, it literally means “wheel” by association with its function as a
vortex of spinning energy interacting with various physiological and
neurological systems in the body. Chakras are energy centers within the human
body that help to regulate all its processes, from organ function to the immune
system and emotions [emphasis added].
http://www.mysticfamiliar.com/library/l_chakras.htm:
The word Chakra comes from an ancient Indian language known as Sanskrit, chakra
means vortex, spinning wheel or circle. Chakras are the major centres of
spiritual power in the human body and are circles of energy which balance,
store and distribute the energies of life all through our physical body along
the subtle body. The subtle body is the non physical body or otherwise known as
our soul or spirit, which overlays our physical body. The belief in chakras
started in India, and is utilized in Ayurvedic medicine, the earliest records
of Ayurvedic dates from around 2500 B.C. The word Ayurvedic comes from two
Indian words Ayur meaning life and Veda meaning knowledge. Ayurvedic or life
knowledge medicine may be interpreted as knowledge on how to lead a healthy
life. Ayurvedic medicine observes illness as unevenness in the body, which may
be treated with a mixture of meditation, physical exercise and herbal
treatments. If you could imagine chakras as circles of energy, flowing all the
way through our body these circles of energy assist in the running of our body,
mind and soul. If a chakra is not performing correctly, this could cause our
physical health, mental health and our spiritual selves to suffer. Although
there are hundreds of chakras in our body we will only introduce the seven
major chakras below. These chakras start at the base of the spine and move
upwards to the last one at the crown of the head. They coincide with the
positions along the spinal cord of the major nerve ganglia in our physical
body.
There has been much discussion during the last couple of
years about the pros and cons of removing the energy centers/chakras of our
energy bodies. In recent days, www.in5d.com, has shared two articles
specifically written for the site by Anastacia of Australia, titled “Why You
Should Not Remove Your Chakras” (http://in5d.com/not-remove-chakras/)
and “Comments on Chakra Removal” (http://in5d.com/comments-removing-chakras/).
Gregg Prescott, M.S., Editor of www.in5d.com
added an addendum to the comments as follows:
I completely agree that we should not remove our chakras. George Kavassilas is a big proponent of
chakra removal and while I find George fascinating, I don’t agree with his
stance. There are other people who have
claimed to remove their chakras but I seriously doubt it. One woman in particular says she removed
hers, but I can still see her aura, which tells me she’s full of hot air. There’s
a reason WHY our chakras are called ENERGY CENTERS. They can help us see which
areas need attending to when one or more is off. I think if it truly is possible to remove
them, it would be a huge mistake that could quite possibly be irreparable.
After reading both articles and Gregg’s Addendum, I
commented: As a Spiritual &
Metaphysical Healing/Wellbeing Facilitator of 25+ years, I agree with your
thoughts at the end of this, Gregg. There are people who claim to have removed
their chakras or had them removed when that isn't the case. I'm willing to
admit, however, that perhaps they were removed at one level or two levels and
not all levels. It seems more likely that they have closed their chakras majorly
and/or deactivated them (and there are degrees of activation). Closing chakras
for longer than a few minutes isn't healthy, and I don't recommend closing them
at all--except for the solar plexus, sacral center, and root/base chakra.
I’ll add here: When facilitating wellbeing for others, our
(Angel-Light Team) goal is optimal activation of the chakras (not maximum
activation) because the degree of activation that is best for one person may
not be best for another person, and there may be conditions of the body that
require some chakras of an individual to be activated more or less than other
of the chakras. Each person is different
with different needs, and there needs to be flexibility of healers when
facilitating wellbeing for others—not rigidness of method and expectations.
And that reminds me of something that happened about
1994. I had a friend in the Dallas-Fort
Worth holistic community who purchased the “business” of another healing
facilitator (including textbooks for his/her method of healing with energy)
who, if I remember correctly, was a senior citizen and retiring. My friend
asked me many times to accept a complimentary healing energy session from him/her. I declined until a time when I recognized
that my friend was ready and open to what I had to tell him/her. I accepted the session on the condition that,
after getting started as his/her textbook suggested, my friend would surrender
himself/herself to be a Divine instrument and ignore the instructions of the method and
just place his/her hands where Divine guided them. We reached an agreement. After the session, my friend said he had
never felt energy come through his hands more strongly (and he had given a lot
of sessions by that time). What’s more,
the same thing happened when I referred a close friend who was visiting me from
another state for a session. My point is that when healing facilitators
diminish personal ego and invite Divine to “do the works,” the clearing/healing
THROUGH the facilitator’s instrument is usually much better than what the facilitator
can accomplish alone--assuming the facilitator’s channels, conduits, and
circuits are sufficiently free and clear (and that’s a subject for another article, several
of which can be found on the ♥Angel-Light Beamer♥).
We are the Angel-Light
Team—a collective of beings on mission to assist humanity. We don’t do
business. We do service. We trust Divine
to provide for our human instrument through the kindness and generosity of
others. You may want to support our multifaceted ministry/mission with a
donation to Angel-Light Love. There is a convenient donate button on the
♥Angel-Light Beamer♥, and there is an Amazon wish list (link provided upon

there be plenty for you!
